Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Siliguri organized school and hygiene supply distribution programs at different villages in Alipurduar District, West Bengal through Hope Children this month.
The distributions were organized with the aim of helping the children in vulnerable communities have access to education and enjoy good health. Most of their parents are tea garden workers or daily wage laborers and due to the pandemic they have been struggling to make ends meet.
Village heads and local political leaders were present at the distribution programs held in few villages. They appreciated the Hope for Children for taking the initiative to help poor and needy children with school supplies. They also thanked the staff for spreading awareness on cleanliness at the time when the world is fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Around 720 children were provided with school supplies and hygienic items through these distributions. Each child received face mask, tooth brush, tooth paste, bathing and washing soap, hair oil, hanky, pen, pencil, eraser, sharpener, water bottle, tiffin box, pencil box and colour pencils.
The children were so glad and happy for the gifts and they expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the church for helping them in their time of need.
Binita Ekka, one of the children, said,” I am so thankful to Hope for Children for giving us these items, which are necessary for our studies and health.”
