“I am very happy to have this delicious food” said a 57 year old woman named Sandhya Bar, a hut-dweller. She was one of the hundreds who was helped through the food distributions held at various locations by Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Kolkata on 16 October 2018, on the occasion of World Food Day.
A team from the Diocese office visited an orphanage where Justin Mor Thomas Episcopa shared his valuable time with the children and served delicious meal to them. The Diocese distributed rice, chicken curry and dal to the 40 orphan children and 10 staff of the orphanage.
Food packets were distributed in various districts of the state under the initiative of different parishes and clergy of the church. Food was served to numerous people like beggars, widows, poor and old ones and in some of the places grocery items were distributed. Most of them were those who struggle to make ends meet. About 580 food packets were distributed on that day.
