On 23rd May 2017, Believers Church Diocese of Nagpur held a gift distribution program where income-generating tools and mobility aids were distributed to people living in poverty.
The purpose of the distribution was to help the underprivileged integrate into mainstream society.
Bishop Samkutty Isaac inaugurated the event and distributed bicycles, tricycles (for the physically challenged), sewing machines and push carts to beneficiaries. A total of 416 people received the gifts.
After receiving a tricycle, Prithviraj Gajbhiye, a beneficiary, said, “Around 35 years ago, I had met with an accident and lost both my legs. My wife is also physically disabled and has difficulty walking. I have two children and I iron clothes for others to earn a living. Due to my disability, I often faced troubles. But, today I am very happy that I received a tricycle free of cost. I am grateful to the church for showing great concern for the poor and needy.”
