The recently concluded Vacation Bible School (VBS) in Rutsiro District in Rwanda from 23rd July to 25th July was an overwhelming success, providing an engaging and enriching experience for more than 1800 kids over a span of three days. The event was marked by a perfect blend of fun-filled activities, faith-based learning, captivating stories, lively dancing, interactive games, and much more. The team was led by H.G. Geevarghese Mor Makariose Episcopa, along with others from the diocesan office and CTP office.
The VBS program aimed not only to educate but also to create an atmosphere of joy and fellowship among the participants. This objective was resoundingly achieved through a series of meticulously planned activities. The most heart touching aspect was that the majority of the children eagerly attended the VBS after walking for nearly an hour to reach the venue.
The core of the VBS experience was rooted in faith-based teachings. The kids were engaged in age-appropriate discussions, stories, and lessons that conveyed essential moral values and principles. This aspect of the program contributed significantly to the children’s personal and spiritual growth.
Through imaginative storytelling, the children were introduced to saint stories that not only entertained but also imparted valuable life lessons. The skilful storytellers captured the children’s attention, fostering a deep understanding of the stories’ underlying messages.
Dancing sessions infused the VBS with energy and enthusiasm. These sessions not only provided physical activity but also created lasting memories. The kids also involved in games time and it also served as an avenue for forging new friendships.
One of the parents said, “Programs like these can play a significant role in fostering personal and moral growth, while also providing a supportive environment for children to learn and develop important life skills.”
