Believers Church Diocese of Vizag joined the rest of the world to celebrate International Widows Day, 23rd June 2017.
The Diocese distributed income-generating tools to destitute widows in five places to mark the occasion.
These widows live in slums that lack even bare minimum facilities needed for survival. Left with the burden of fending for themselves and their children, they do odd jobs just to put food on the table.
To alleviate their plight and empower them with new livelihood, the diocese gifted them with sewing machines and grinders. Altogether 153 widows were helped through the program. These tools will help them to support themselves and their families and become financially stable in the days to come.
This International Widows Day, Believers Church organized similar programs all across its dioceses and helped over 1200 widows by giving them poverty alleviation tools including sewing machines, goats, vegetable pushcarts and other essential items like roofing materials, provision items, sarees, hygiene supplies and ration kits.
