Due to gale-force winds that battered Kurunegala District of Sri Lanka from 11 to 12 June 2018, many families had to evacuate their homes. The extreme winds with occasional rains lasted for 2 days, but caused great catastrophe as big trees, metal structures of sign posts and billboards, electric posts and houses of 145 families suffered great damage as strong winds swept across the area.
To help the gale victims, Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Colombo held a relief supply distribution on 15 June 2018 where they distributed dry ration kits to 145 families, benefiting 725 persons. Each family received a kit containing 10 essential items such as 10 kgs of rice, 1 kilogram each of flour, sugar, soya meat, tea leaves, chilly powder, curry powder, salt and canned fish and biscuit packet.
