Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Mumbai observed World AIDS Day on 1 December 2018.
Globally, 36.9 million people are living with HIV and it has been estimated that in India alone about 2.1 million are infected by this incurable disease. World AIDS Day is dedicated to raising awareness of this deadly disease.
To mark this day, a team from the diocese visited an orphanage housing children that lost their parents to HIV/AIDS. A total of 28 boys, age ranging from 5 to 17 years old, are being taken care of at this orphanage.
The team gave school supplies to each one of them to help them fare well in studies.
