Belivers Church Odisha Diocese’s Sisters of Compassion organized a program for World Leprosy Day on 30th January 2013. It took place in a colony of 50 leprosy-affected families. These people have been excommunicated from society and live as outcasts.
When Believers Church distributed medicine and mats to the families, they really appreciated it.
One of the recipients was an old man named Kartikaya. His wife has a mental problem and he gets his daily food through begging. Seeing the work of Believers Church, Kartikaya felt so happy. “Nobody is recognizing us and helping us like this,” he said.
Hundreds of leprosy patients received help through Believers Church’s various World Leprosy Day initiatives.
