A team of Women’s Fellowship members and Sisters of Compassion from Believers Church Odisha Diocese held an awareness program in a village on World No Tobacco Day, 31st May 2014.
Most of the villagers were poor and illiterate, they smuggled coal from the coal mines and sold them in the black market. Most of the men in the village were addicted to smoking and alcohol.
The team played a video depicting the physical impacts of tobacco on the human body.
Believers Church raises awareness about many social issues including substance abuse and HIV/AIDS by conducting awareness programs like this one.
