Odisha Diocese Presents Two New Homes to Cyclone Phailin Victims

Believers Church Odisha Diocese inaugurated two new homes for Cyclone Phailin victims on 7th May. When the cyclone hit in October 2013, the families here lost everything.

“We are a very poor family,” said one of the house recipients with tears; “no one was there to help us when we lost everything during Phailin; even our own relatives did not help us. But I am so happy that Believers Church helped me and I am so grateful to the church.”

Block chairman Mr. Sushanta Kumar Sahu was the special guest of the inaugural program. Rev. Fr. Sibu cut the ribbon to inaugurate the reconstructed homes. He explained that Believers Church cares for the needy in the society because of Christ’s words in Matthew 25:40: “Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.”

These are the first of 300 sturdy homes that Believers Church is building for victims of the devastating cyclone through its Cyclone Phailin Reconstruction initiative.
