Believers Church Chennai Diocese launched a work among leprosy patients through Sisters of Compassion on 26th January. Bishop Dr. Samuel Mathew inaugurated the work.
That very day, which was also World Leprosy Day, the newly dedicated Sisters of Compassion visited patients at a leprosy hospital. They distributed eatables and soaps, while showing love to the patients and praying for them.
Lakshimi, a 55-year-old woman, shared how she contracted leprosy when she was only 12 years old. She is unmarried, and her parents will not visit her because they see her disease as a curse. Only her sister comes to visit at the hospital. With this as her normal experience, she was so happy to receive care from Sisters of Compassion.
This was just one of many locations where Believers Church helped leprosy patients on World Leprosy Day.
