Believers Church inaugurated a bore well in a village in Rajasthan on 14th December 2012.
Before this, the agricultural village struggled. Three shallow wells stood outside the village, but their water was impure and insufficient.
So, although each family in the village had land to farm, they could not adequately water their crops. Thus, harvests were too infrequent to meet their needs. To supplement their income, men would go to the city to work for daily wages, leaving the women to tend the dry land.
Summertime was even worse than the rest of the year. The municipality would sometimes bring water by tanker, but only irregularly.
Seeing the village’s need, a local Believers Church worker took initiative to drill a bore well here. The new well was installed in a central location easily accessible to 25 families. After the well was inaugurated in December, the villagers tried it one by one. Word spread that the water was safe and clean, drawing people from a further distance.
The water from the new well was sufficient for the villagers’ household work, livestock and even their crops. Seeing the needs of the people fulfilled, the village sarpanch expressed his appreciation.
Believers Church provides safe water to hundreds of communities each year through wells and BioSand water filters.
