Believers Church Ranchi Diocese held a health and hygiene awareness program to mark the beginning of a sanitation initiative on 23rd May 2014. The diocese plans to construct 164 toilets for communities in need of improved sanitation. More than 198 people attended the program.
The purpose of the seminar was to bring awareness about a healthy life, to prevent deadly diseases and to encourage people to use sanitation facilities. Dr. Rajesh Kumar Singh and Dr. Z. Anwar talked to the people about the importance of health and hygiene.
Dr. Z. Anwar said, “Three things are important in our life: air, water and soil. If we pollute them, we have to suffer the consequences; if we keep them clean it will save our lives and help us to live long lives. So, let us maintain cleanliness within ourselves and our families, once we do this, we can help others.”
Dr. Rakesh Kumar Singh said, “For proper health, a proper environment is required, and for a proper environment, proper hygiene is necessary. For that we need good sanitation facilities. Lack of proper sanitation is the reason for many diseases.”
The awareness program is just one of the many ways Believers Church improves the health of rural and urban communities.
