Believers Church Kolkata Diocese inaugurated a new Bridge of Hope center on the 15th of August for a locality where children collect garbage.
The inauguration program was combined with Independence Day celebrations. Bishop Dr. Juria Bardhan hoisted the Indian flag and let free a white dove as a sign of peace. Mr. Pradip Majumdar (Councilor) and Mr. Shubash Sen (Rotary Club President) were invited as the chief guests.
More than 500 people gathered for the event. Children who joined our Bridge of Hope center stood on the road side holding placards that said, “Wow! We are 67000+ now” and “Thank you Metropolitan.” The center was officially inaugurated by cutting a ribbon and lighting of the lamp by our Bishop.
Mr. Pradip Majumdar thanked Kolkata Diocese for opening a Bridge of Hope center in this particular area where people live their lives by collecting garbage. He was happy that now these children will have hope in their lives.
Next was a cultural dance program followed by distribution of gift kits which had a school bag, hygiene materials, schools materials and notebook.
The kids who have enrolled will be joining more than 67,000 students who receive education, medical services, social awareness and nutritious food through Bridge of Hope.
