A team of Women’s Fellowship members and Sunday school children from Believers Church Nellore Diocese held an awareness rally on International Literacy Day, 8th September.
One hundred ninety people attended the rally and the purpose of the rally was to spread awareness about education. In the rally people carried placards and raised slogans like “earn education, earn status” and “our aim: 100% literacy”.
Rev. Fr. Jonah addressed the people and said, “This is also to create awareness among the educated people to make sincere efforts in educating the illiterate. The aim of the church is 100% literacy.”
Sis. Gangamma said, “No one bothers about education, but the church organized a literacy day rally, which will bring awareness among all people especially those below poverty line.”
Believers Church has helped more than 50,000 adults learn to read and write through literacy classes in 13 languages.
