Under the leadership of Rev. Fr. Reji (Vicar General), Believers Church Lucknow organized gift distribution programs in 14 districts through the Poverty Alleviation Community Development Project of Believers Church. Over eight hundred fifty needy families received gifts such as blankets, livestock, sewing machines, bicycles and rickshaws.
Among the dignitaries taking part in the programs, Dr. Zafer-ul-khan (Minority Commission) said, “The welfare activities of Believers Church are centered on socially relevant causes for the upliftment and empowerment of all the sections of the society, especially those from the weaker society section. The Believers Church has been regularly providing support for the development of the destitute slum dwellers and underprivileged people of the society and is undertaking such welfare activities at regular intervals.”
The recipients genuinely appreciated the initiative of Believers Church.
The bicycle that Neetu received will enable her to reach school more easily. She said, “Today Believers Church provided me a bicycle which will surely make my educational life brighter. I hope one day I will become someone for my village and for my nation.”
Munna was the recipient of a cycle rickshaw. He shared, “Although I was pulling a rickshaw before, it was rented, and I had to give 50% of my income to the owner. But Believers Church gave me this cycle rickshaw so now I can toil hard and save the 50% to sustain my family smoothly.”
The impact of the Community Development Project in Lucknow Diocese is a small example of how the project has uplifted the needy all across South Asia.
