Metropolitan Dr. K.P. Yohannan dedicated 123 Sisters of Compassion for service on 12th December at Believers Church’s Synod Secretariat. The sisters represented five different language groups, coming from all parts of India.
The dedication service marked the end of the sisters’ six-month training, which challenged them to grow in devotion to God and practically taught them how to care for the poor. They received silver crosses to wear on their distinctive white saris, signifying their service toward God and humanity.
The sisters will now be sent to show compassion to the most neglected people of society, such as orphans, street children, widows, leprosy patients and slum dwellers.
