Believers Church Imphal Diocese organized a gift distribution program on 24th November 2012 and the theme was “Love Your Neighbour as Yourself.” More than 200 people attended the community development program.
Rev. Fr. Japha shared that the church exists for society. He said that words are not enough to help people, but actions should follow beliefs. “We have been carrying out humanitarian service since 1997,” said Rev. Fr. Japha. He explained the church’s development services are motivated by the teachings of Jesus.
Special guest Shri Paonam Brojen Meitei (MLA of Wangjing Tentha Consituency) thanked Believers Church for helping the downtrodden. Faced with the dilemma of how to bring peace and unity into the land, he was delighted to attend a program that spread love. He challenged the people, as citizens of Manipur, to help bring integrity to the state.
The president of AMCO (All Manipur Christian Organization), Rev. S. Prim Vaiphei, also attended the program as a special guest.
317 people received gifts including livestock, cycles, sewing machines, embroidery machines and roofing sheets. Because of the large number of gifts, some items were distributed after the program got over.
An old man who received roofing sheets was moved with emotion and said, “My roof leaks water when it rains, but through the help of Believers Church now I can cover my rooftop and I am so happy. I thank the Believers Church leaders and thank God for His grace.”
This man is one of thousands benefited through Believers Church’s Community Development Project. This project supplies safe drinking water, alleviates poverty and teaches adult literacy in needy communities.
