Hoisting the national flag, cleaning public places and playing cricket were all part of Believers Church Lucknow Diocese’s Republic Day celebration on 26th January 2013.
The day started with Special guest Dr. Yogendar Singh (Govt. Primary Health Centre) reverently raising the flag. He challenged Minor Seminary students to “stand for the truth and fight for the country.”
The students and church staff then cleaned a government hospital and a railway station. The head nurse at the hospital was very impressed by how the seminary students devoted themselves to the work. Dr. Rajendar Singh (chief medical officer) also expressed his sincere thanks.
At the railway station, many passengers and employees watched the team actively clean. The station master said, “I am so thankful to the church for giving helping hand for cleaning, and bringing the awareness among the public to keep the places clean.”
After the social work, the team returned to the diocese office where students defeated the staff in a cricket match. Altogether, it was a good day for Lucknow Diocese.
Many Believers Church members in India took Republic Day as an opportunity to serve and improve the nation.
