In a heartwarming gesture of compassion, the priest and parish members of St. Mary’s Believers Eastern Church in Syangja district, Diocese of Pokhara, came together to make a positive impact on the lives of those in need. On September 23, 2023, following the Saturday worship service, an initiative was launched to provide essential school bags and stationery items to underprivileged children within the community.
The chief guest, Mr. Krishna Bhattarai, the municipality chairman, distributed school bags with essential stationery supplies, including pens, pencils, notebooks, erasers, and sharpeners, to 70 needy children on this occasion.
Additionally, on this same day, 18 elderly members of the local church were bestowed with traditional Khada shawls as a mark of respect and honor. This heartwarming gesture aimed to celebrate and acknowledge the wisdom and experience these seniors bring to the community.
The spirit of giving extended further, as a nourishing meal was generously provided to all children, elderly individuals, and participants.
Mr. Krishna Bhattarai, the municipality chairman, expressed his deep gratitude for the opportunity to be part of this commendable distribution program, stating, “It’s my great privilege to be part of this distribution program. I appreciate the local church for their great contribution to society.”
“The local priest, humbled by the experience, shared his excitement, saying, ‘I was very much excited to distribute the school bags and stationery items to the needy children of the church and the community. I thank God for enabling us to present His love through our church in our society. And I extend my gratitude to the church members for their contributions toward this noble cause.”
