Believers Church Diocese of Vijayawada honored literacy class students on International Literacy Day, 8th September 2014. Fifty women from various literacy units all over the diocese attended the program.
These women represented the 2,900 students currently learning in Adult Literacy Program locations throughout the diocese. Previously, these women didn’t even know how to write or read. But through the literacy classes, they are now able to read and write in Telugu.
“I went for job instead going school because of the poor financial background of my family,” said Malathi, a student. “But through this literacy program, I am able to read. Thank you so much for giving me a chance to learn.”
Believers Church works to empower members of developing communities through literacy and social awareness programs.
