Believers Church Sikkim observed International Literacy Day with the members of a literacy class unit in Sikkim on 8th September 2014.
The program was organized by Women’s Fellowship members and Rev. Fr. Bal Bahdur was the chief guest. He encouraged the members to utilize the opportunity they have been given to improve themselves more.
These women were taught both Nepali as well English through the literacy classes. And that day, they were given the chance to test their reading and writing skills they obtained from these classes.
All the students were happy and excited to took part in these activities. “A year ago, when I joined for the literacy class, I didn’t know how to read or write,” said Meena, a student. “But now, I can read as well write Nepali.”
Believers Church aims the strengthening and empowerment of women in neglected communities by providing them literacy classes and vocational trainings to improve their skills.
