On 15th August 2007, Believers Church Synod Secretariat hosted an Independence Day program which was attended by Synod Secretariat staff, Believers Church Theological Seminary students and faculty, Bridge of Hope children and young students from Believers Church Residential School. The local magistrate came as chief guest to hoist the national flag. Once the flag was unfurled, everyone began singing India’s anthem.
The magistrate then spoke about how far India has come after 60 years of independence. He reminded everyone that freedom came with a great price – the blood of hundreds of freedom fighters who died to protect their soil. He challenged the crowd to do their part as children of the nation, to ensure that the values of India would always be kept and respected.
Five schoolchildren sang a patriotic song in Hindi, which everyone appreciated.
Believers Church celebrates India’s national holidays with joy and fanfare each year.
