Kolkata Diocese Offers Free Eye Treatment

Believers Church Kolkata Diocese on 15th January 2013 organized a free eye camp in a farming village of Purulia district. 135 people received eye checkups and 30 of them underwent cataract surgery. The patients received free medicine and spectacles according to their need.

“I am thankful that Believers Church is doing something for the people,” said special guest Smt. Kanaklata Baura (gram panchayat member). The villagers were also thankful to Believers Church and the participating doctors.

Many of the patients had eye problems, but could not afford treatment. “I could have lost my eyes if the doctors didn’t do the operation at the right time,” said a 55-year-old woman named Santi.

Believers Church works to improve the health of needy communities through many means, including medical camps, vitamin distribution and hygiene awareness.
