In a village in Karnataka about 70 Km away from Hubli district, people have to buy water if they want it to be pure. But poor people cannot afford to this expense and many are affected with illness as a result.
Seeing their suffering, Believers Church decided to supply water filters to the villagers and Hubli slum-dwellers. The distribution program was held at a local church in Hubli on 14th October 2012. The church gave away 18 filters that day.
Special guests attending the event included Dr. Panduranga Patil, and Mr. Anil Kumar (BJP Taluk President). The guests were impressed and appreciated Believers Church for its service. One guest, Mrs Suvarna, said, “I am very much delighted to see that Believers Church has taken such an initiative to distribute free water filters to the poor and the needy.”
An elderly lady named Bimmavao received one of the filters. She said, “It is so helpful to get pure drinking water; now we don’t have any problem. Thanks for your love and care.”
“The best tasting water I have ever had,” remarked recipient Mr. Yashwanth. “It’s way better than any bottled water or filter.”
Mr. Krishnappa said, “Believers Church has changed my life. I use to worry about pure drinking water for cooking and drinking. But Believers Church has given us BioSand water filter freely. Now I feel comfortable drinking water from the filter. Thank you.”
Believers Church has distributed thousands of BioSand water filters in deprived communities throughout South Asia.
