Believers Church Jasidih Diocese held a Poverty Alleviation program on 30th January in honor of both World Leprosy Day and the anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s death. Fifteen hundred people gathered for the event.
“It is a great thing to honor the national father Mahatma Gandhi by caring for the poor and needy,” said chief guest Shri Shashirajan Prasad Singh (Deputy District Collector). He was touched by the work of Believers Church, and appreciated the welcome dance done by children from a local Bridge of Hope center.
Through this event, 316 families were benefited. Ten leprosy patients received tricycles, while other impoverished community members received blankets, cots and bicycles.
“I thank Believers Church for giving a tricycle” said Mohmad; “though I do not have one leg, this tricycle will help me run here and there and enjoy the beautiful world God has created.”
Believers Church helps thousands of poor communities through various community development projects.
