Island Widow Care Center Celebrates International Widows Day

Believers Church Island Widow Care Center celebrated International Widows Day on 23rd June 2013. This initiative of Kolkata Diocese helps widows in the Sunderban Islands whose husbands have been killed by tigers and other wild animals.

Rev. Fr. Joshua assured the widows of God’s care and ability to handle their problems. The local Sisters of Compassion distributed sweets and saris to the women, prompting tears of joy. The widows hugged and kissed the Sisters of Compassion, saying, “Thank you for your love, we understand that Believers Church is loving and thinking of us and trying to help us.” Sisters of Compassion regularly work among widows like these, offering encouragement and help and providing basic needs.
