On International Women’s Day, 8th March 2011, a team of Believers Church Uttarakhand Women’s Fellowship members organized an awareness program at the local Minor Seminary. Thirty women gathered to hear special guest Mrs. Veena, an English and Science teacher, speak on the value and role of women in society.
She encouraged them by recognizing their innate ability to love, care and sacrifice for others. She shared that women possess important emotional qualities ranging from patience to extreme courage in times of crisis. She further said it was through the sacrifice of Uttarakhand’s women that the state was formed.
Rev. Fr. Samuel (Vicar General of Uttarakhand) was also present for the occasion. He appreciated women’s contribution to government and society and challenged the group to continue offering positive input. Believers Church is working hard to uplift and educate women. The church’s efforts include not only awareness meetings, but also thousands of adult literacy classes and much more.
