An awareness rally for International Literacy Day was organized by Believers Church Udaipur Diocese on 8th September 2013. Bridge of Hope and Sunday School children participated along with Women’s Fellowship members and Believers Church staff and members.
Participants shouted International Literacy Day slogans energetically as they made their way through five different villages. “Education is life,” the marchers said in Hindi. “Get education and get a good future. Education develops our nation.” Hearing the sound of slogans, villagers emerged from their houses to watch the procession.
International Literacy Day banners and placards further affirmed the rally’s message. Almost 500 families learned the importance of literacy through this rally.
“I just enjoyed the shouting of children with various slogans,” said Tanu, a Bridge of Hope tutor. “It inspired me too to cry out along with them…I am thankful to Believers Church for organizing such awareness programs for the people.”
A Sunday school child named Frank also enjoyed the rally. “I was so happy to hold the banner of World Literacy Day in order to participate in this rally…I am proud to be a member of Believers Church Sunday school.”
This was only one of many places where Believers Church raised awareness about the need for education on International Literacy Day 2013.
