Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Chandigarh reached out to the inmates of a leprosy colony with rice bags on 31 January 2022, in observance of World Leprosy Day.
The leprosy colony is situated in the district of Patiala. The idea of the noble service was conceived by the Diocesan Women’s Fellowship team who with the guidance of H.G. Martin Mor Aprem Episcopa, visited the leprosy colony along with the diocesan staff.
The team distributed rice bags to a total of 30 families in this leprosy colony. They were also glad that they got the opportunity to personally interact with a few of the inmates there.
The head of the community, Mr. Faridass, who himself has lost his left leg due to the disease, expressed thanks saying, “We’re so grateful for your kind help.”
One of the inmates, Laxmi, was grateful when she said, “We remember the help you provided when you visited us last time.”
