Believers Church Dhemaji Diocese organized a Poverty Alleviation gift distribution on 23rd June 2013 in honor of International Widows Day. One hundred nine poor families, including 50 widows, received gifts. The community members received gifts according to their need, including livestock, pulling carts and tin roofing sheets.
Nirbedita was the grateful recipient of a sewing machine. “I know how to stitch clothes,” she said, “but could not afford to buy a machine. But from today my family will have hope through this machine.”
A laborer named Gore received a pulling cart. With nine members in his family, he previously struggled to even provide them one meal a day with his small income.
“I believe [the pulling cart] will be a great help for me to earn for my family,” said Gore.
Believers Church helps thousands of people each year to escape the cycle of poverty through income-generating gifts.
