Inauguration and Blessing of New Cathedral in Diocese of Colombo

The newly built St. Peters Believers Eastern Church Cathedral in Diocese of Colombo, Sri Lanka was blessed and dedicated on 4 December 2021, with the blessings of His Holiness Moran Mor Athanasius Yohan I Metropolitan.

HG Dr. Samuel Mor Theophilus Episcopa inaugurated and blessed the new cathedral and presided at the Divine Liturgy, which was concelebrated by HG Geevarghese Mor Makariose Episcopa and a number of priests from the diocese.

After the celebration of the Divine Liturgy, a public felicitation program was held. Members of Parliament, Hon. Dr. Kavinda Jayawardana, Hon. Premnath C. Dolewatta, Hon. Dr. Gayeshan Nawandana and Senior DIG Mr. Deshabandu Thennakoon, Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Indika Hapugoda, President’s Media Unit Assistant Director, Mr. Thilan Punchihewa, and Prime Minister’s Secretary for Parliamentary Affairs Mr. Udith Lokubandara were present.
