A Women’s Fellowship team in Believers Church Dhemaji Diocese organized a World Food Day program on 16th October, 2012 at a local village. This village is inhabited by the Mising tribe and most of them are farmers.
The Women’s Fellowship cooked food for the widows, widowers and children from poor families in the community. Around 35 people received a free meal.
The school children expressed their happiness to be part of the program and enjoyed a good meal. A fifth standard student, Rongton, said, “Today I am very happy to come and eat food.”
Umaboti Doley is a widow with three children. She said, “I came here to see what people would tell us in this program. I really liked when the speaker said that Jesus loved even the poor and cared for them. I am blessed with the food they provided me.”
A widower named Subash Doley said, “Today I am satisfied to have the food they provided me. Since long time I have not eaten this kind of food with many items and I feel blessed.”
Believers Church is working in many ways to uplift the poor and suffering. Each World Food Day, local churches across South Asia provide free meals to those in need.
