On Global Hand Washing Day (15th October 2012), A Women’s Fellowship team in Believers Church Imphal Diocese raised awareness. They organized a program at the local Minor Seminary where Women’s Fellowship leader Niangdoivak shared about hand washing. A film on the subject was shown to bring understanding of the importance of hygiene. Rev. Fr. Japha then led a practical session on the correct way to wash hands.
Women’s Fellowship members were delighted with the program and said they would teach their kids how to wash their hands. Minor Seminary students said, “Now we have learned how to wash our hands in the right manner. Before we just washed them with water and did not give any importance to it. The film show is really helpful to us. When we go home we will teach our parents and siblings too.”
A similar awareness program was carried out for community members. It was held in the home of a 70-year-old widow. The locals were happy with the hygiene lessons and plan to share them with others.
These Imphal Diocese events were a small part of Believers Church’s efforts on Global Hand Washing Day. Thousands of South Asians learned to prevent disease by washing their hands.
