On 15th October 2010, Believers Church Agartala Diocese held Global Hand Washing Day programs in various areas of Tripura, including Kumarghat, Simna, Khowai and Raima Valley. More than 800 people participated in different locations.
Believers Church raised hygiene awareness in a village in South Tripura. The church team received a warm welcome from the villagers, who were keenly interested to learn about hand washing.
Pastor Jogot invited people from all over the village to participate in the event. A Women’s Fellowship member gave a speech about health and hygiene. The team then demonstrated how to wash hands properly according to the guidelines given by Dr. Daniel Johnson, Believers Church Medical Director.
A film about the importance of hand washing was also shown. Many people, including small children and the elderly, got the chance to practice their new knowledge by washing their hands with the soap provided.
Global Hand Washing Day is an opportunity welcomed by Believers Churches across South Asia. It is a day set apart to spread vital information to surrounding communities about the importance of hygiene.
