In observance of World Environment Day, Believers Eastern Church dioceses planted tree saplings of various kinds to preserve the environment and raise awareness about the importance of environmental protection.
Here’s how the day was celebrated across the dioceses in India.
In Believer Eastern Church Diocese of Niranam, HG Mathews Mor Silvanus Episcopa planted saplings to mark the day.
Shri. Mathew T Thomas, MLA inaugurated the World Environment Day celebration of Thiruvalla Municipality at St. Thomas Community. Shri. Bindu Jayakumar, Thiruvalla Municipal Chairperson presided over the function. Rev. Fr. Sijo Pandapallil, Manager, Believers Church Medical College Hospital, Mr. Gigi Wattacheril, Welfare Standing Committee Chairman, Thiruvalla Municipality, Mr. Nizamuddin M K, Former Municipal Councilor were present on the occasion.
As part of the World Environment Day celebrations, saplings were planted by the diocesan team of Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Lucknwo at the premises of Diocesan Office campus and by parishes in remote villages. More than 2000 trees were planted today by the parishes in this diocese.
Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Diphu observed the day by planting tree saplings in the Diocesan office premises.
Hope for Children teams in Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Tinsukia, Udaipur and Chennai planted hundreds of saplings to spread awareness among people about preserving the environment for a healthy and better future. Besides planting saplings, Hope for Children team in Tinsukia also distributed saplings to commuters on the street and to people in nearby villages. Around 100 saplings were planted and distributed to people.
