Believers Church Tezpur Diocese organized a gift distribution program under its poverty alleviation community development project on the 17th of July.
159 underprivileged families benefited. They were gifted with tin sheets, piglets and bicycles. The gifts they received will enable them to stand on their feet to meet their needs.
Barnabas Mardi said, “We don’t own land and that bothers me a lot as a father. I wanted to rear pigs but could afford to buy them as they are expensive. Now free of cost I am getting two pigs to rear and it is a great blessing for my family. I will rear them well and when it gives birth, I want to sell it and buy small piece of land for paddy field so that at least I can face my children as a father.”
Lukas Basumatary said, “I am staying in a thatch house with my family and when it rains heavily the water drops on our bed. I was also worried because the thatch is getting damaged, winter is coming and in very cold days the dew will fall inside the house. But today I don’t have to worry any more, as I got tin sheets which I will put up in my roof very soon. I am very grateful to Believers Church for providing tin sheets to our family.”
Hogla Basumatary received a bicycle and commented, “I am from a poor family. I am studying in Class X. My school is five kilometers away from my home. Every day I have to go by walking because there is no transportation. Due to this reason, most of the time I feel tired and I can’t concentrate on my studies. But today Believers Church has given me a free Bicycle. It is a great help for me to go school. I express my heartfelt thanks to Believers Church for providing a bicycle.”
Believers Church conducts such community development programs in many villages by selecting the appropriate beneficiaries.
