The Hope for Children project, under the Diocese of Kohalpur, organized a Free Medical Camp on August 2, 2024, with the aim of providing essential healthcare services to children under the age of five residing in Kohalpur Ward Nos. 10 to 13.
Dr. Murali Mohan Gupta, a pediatric specialist from Nepalgunj Medical College, Kohalpur, along with health assistant professionals and the Chairman of the Kohalpur Health Department, extended their services at the camp.
Local leaders, including Mrs. Gaura Bhattarai, Chairperson of Ward No. 10, and Mr. Ishwori Prasad B.K., Chairman of the Social Development Department of Kohalpur Municipality, graced the event with their presence.
In her address, Mrs. Gaura Bhattarai expressed her appreciation for the work of Hope for Children, stating, “This type of camp greatly benefits our community. It should be held regularly to raise awareness about family health. We recognize the significant contribution of Hope for Children in our locality, particularly in providing free education for our children. We are truly grateful for their work.”
Mr. Ishwori Prasad B.K. emphasized the municipality’s commitment to health, saying, “Kohalpur Municipality prioritizes health above all. Every ward in our municipality should take similar initiatives. Many children, due to financial constraints, lack access to healthcare. With the growing impact of climate change, children are increasingly vulnerable to illnesses such as viral fever, cough, cold, and skin allergies. This camp plays a crucial role in helping our children stay healthy.”
A total of 128 children received medical attention during the camp. Among them, one boy was found to have serious health issues, with an ear infection requiring further treatment. Additionally, several children were treated for boils, with some requiring immediate care for boils with pus. All necessary medications were provided free of charge.
At the conclusion of the camp, the coordinator of Hope for Children extended heartfelt thanks to everyone involved. The doctors were also honored with letters of appreciation for their invaluable service.
