On 15th August 2010, the Believers Church Minor Seminary in Himachal Pradesh celebrated Independence Day.
Rev. Fr. Biju (Vicar General) addressed the students and staff. He spoke about the need for people to pray for their country and encouraged the group to take steps toward the betterment of India. He then hoisted the flag, which was followed by a performance of the national anthem.
Later in the day, local church members, Women’s Fellowship members, Believers Church staff families and Minor Seminary students went to the nearby hills and planted trees. They planted 200 saplings in a place recommended by the Solan Forest Department.
The authorities of the forest department were happy to see the church taking initiative to improve the environment. In Himachal Pradesh, the authorities place strong importance on planting and protecting trees in order to improve the economy. It was a privilege for the Believers Church team to serve the nation together.
Believers Church celebrated the nation’s independence in states all over India through various projects designed to build up local communities.
