A team of Sisters of Compassion and Women’s Fellowship members from the Diocese of Gorkhpur distributed gifts to helpless widows on International Widows Day, 23rd June 2014. Around 30 women received different types of gifts such as sewing machines, saris and rations like rice and wheat flour.
Most of the widows in this particular area are living in a pathetic condition. They are lonely and abandoned by the society. Most of them beg in the streets for a single meal in a day.
Sis. Munni, a 45 year old widow, said, “I am a heart patient and my children don’t want to take care of me. I am so thankful to God for these gifts. My relatives avoid me, but not these sisters.”
On this International Widows Day Believers Church distributed gifts among thousands of widows.
