Three days of relentless rains have resulted in heavy flooding in coastal areas of Puttalam District in Sri Lanka, submerging homes and forcing people to take shelter in temporary accommodation. To help people survive the crisis, Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Colombo held a relief supply distribution on 24th May 2018.
An ordained clergy of Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Colombo visited affected families in this area for two consequent days and provided lunch packets to them, travelling by boat. After the water levels went down, the church again distributed dry rations to families devastated by the flood.
Each family received a ration kit consisting of 10 kg rice, 1 kg sugar, 1 kg flour, 1 tin canned fish, 400 gm table salt, 180 gm soya meat, 400 gm milk powder, 190 gm biscuits, 100 gm curry powder, 100 gm chili powder and 100 gm tea leaves.
This was a great assistance for the people who received these items and they thanked the church for the provision.
