Believers Church Patna Diocese celebrated Christmas with a Community Development Program on 25th December 2012. The Diocesan center bustled with around 1,500 guests.
The chief guest was Shri Devanand Konwar, Governor of Bihar. He lauded the sincere efforts of the church in reaching out to the needy. “Though I have been present at many Christmas functions,” the governor said, “today is the real celebration of Christmas through serving the deprived and disabled in the society. Providing their essential needs is a sacred service on the holy occasion of Christmas.”
Believers Church blessed 40 deprived families with gifts to break the cycle of poverty, including cycle rickshaws, carpentry tools, sewing machines and bicycles. Additionally, 25 widows received warm clothes to shield them from the winter cold.
Rt. Rev. M.A. Lalachan shared that Christmas is the celebration of the incarnation of God, as God opened the door of new hope and eternal life. “The Son of God became a man that men might become the sons of God,” he said. The Bishop described the true spirit of Christmas as a commitment to serve those in need, give hope to those in despair and spread love, peace and joy to a broken world.
Special guest Shri Shyam Rajak (Minister for Food & Consumer Protection, Government of Bihar) appreciated the Church for being practical to the teaching of Lord Jesus by making a deliberate choice to love and care for the poor and downtrodden.
Believers Church spreads this Christmas spirit all year round by helping thousands to support themselves and their families.
