On 3rd July 2014, the Diocese of Tinsukia distributed BioSand water filters to needy communities. Altogether 30 water filters were distributed to the villagers.
The villagers usually depended on a nearby open pond for water, which looked like little more than a mud puddle. This water was contaminated with mud and sand and had traces of iron. This smelly yellowish water was the main cause of waterborne diseases among the villagers.
Mr. Jugeshwer Neauk (Sarpanch) was the chief guest of the program. In his short speech he talked about waterborne diseases and their prevention. He expressed his gratitude to the church for distributing water filters to the villagers.
Through bore wells and BioSand water filters the church provides pure drinking water to thousands of needy communities.
