A team from the Sunday school department of Believers Church Uttarakhand held an awareness program in a slum on Global Hand Washing Day, 15th October. More than 35 people attended the program.
The people in the slum were daily laborers and they never knew the importance of washing hands. The church team played a video which demonstrated the proper method of hand washing. After watching the video, the slum-dwellers pledged to wash their hands before having food.
“Sometimes we people do not wash our hand before we eat,” Mrs. Rani said; “all the people in this slum do not care about their health. But this awareness class helped us to understand the importance of health.”
Believers Church conducts health and hygiene awareness programs, medical camps and vitamin distribution programs to improve the health of the poor and the needy.
