Believers Church Ranchi Diocese distributed income-generating gifts through its community development project to members of a poor community on 14th January 2013. Cows, goats and sewing machines were among the gift items.
Since the recipients previously lacked a proper source of income, it was a relief for them to get such gifts. Thankfulness was visible on their faces. Community members appreciated Believers Church for giving them the means to support themselves and live with dignity.
Bandhni, a mother of four school-age girls, received a sewing machine. “I will learn how to sew and teach my daughters too,” she said. She’s planning to start a business to earn money for her family.
Another recipient, 29-year-old Pusan, had his burden of poverty lifted by a cow. “Earlier I did not have any proper means of survival,” he said, “but now I am blessed with a beautiful cow. Now through this cow, in near future I can earn money to support my family.”
A woman named Basanti got a goat—the very thing she had been praying for. Her family was barely surviving on the daily wages she and her husband earned. “Due to this reason, I was worried about our children’s future,” said Basanti. “I was praying for a goat, and the Lord gave me one. I will rear it up properly and develop it to be a flock. Thus I will make money to educate my children to the higher levels.”
These are just a few examples of the thousands of people Believers Church touches each year through community
development programs.
