In honor of Gandhi Jayanti, Believers Church Tezpur Diocese organized a meeting at a local blind school on 2nd October 2012.
The principal of the school, Mr. Green Chandra Das, gave the inaugural address. Rev. Fr. Paul hoisted the Indian flag. He then talked about the significance of celebrating Gandhi Jayanti. On behalf of the church, he distributed walking sticks to 55 blind students and five blind staff. Along with this, 20 mosquito nets and 12 tarpaulins were also given to the staff and students.
Around 300 people gathered for the occasion and the blind students were listening very intently. At the end of the program the principal said, “We are so much grateful to Believers Church for their help and compassion toward our blind students and staff.”
This is just one of many ways Believers Church helps the needy. Other initiatives include poverty alleviation, literacy classes and clean water supply.
