Following a six-month skill development training, Believers Church Diocese of Chennai distributed new sewing machines and course completion certificates to 25 tailoring graduates on 3rd August 2017.
Mr. K. Palani (MLA), Mr. Ramachandran (Union Secretary), Mr. Mari (Panchayat Secretary) and Bishop B. Sunderraj were the chief guests on the occasion and they distributed sewing machines and certificates to the women graduates. During the program, school supplies also were gifted to underprivileged children.
“I can’t thank the church enough for providing me an opportunity to learn tailoring and gifting me with a sewing machine as well. I have a lot of relatives, but they did not help me in the time of need, but the church did. Now I have confidence to run my family. Thanks a lot,” said, Indhra, a recipient.
The sewing machines will empower these underprivileged women to earn a respectable living as seamstress and help their families rise out of poverty.
