Believers Church Patna Diocese organized a free medical eye exam camp for the underprivileged on the 10th of October.
The camp was organized on the occasion of World Sight Day. Around 500 people were examined during this camp and 350 patients suffering from various eye disorders received treatment. They were provided with medication and spectacles. The camp which was conducted in association with Shri Sai Lions Netralaya Hospital also benefited 100 children from a nearby Bridge of Hope center.
Smt. Poonam Devi (MLA) was the chief guest on the occasion along with Bishop MA Lalachan and Dr. J.L. Sah. While delivering her inaugural address, Smt. Pooman said that Believers Church is always a paradigm for humanitarian service in all areas.
Bishop M.A. Lalachan in his address said, “Around 285 million people worldwide live with low vision and blindness as they don’t have access to medical examinations and appropriate spectacles. Yet 80% of visual impairment is readily treatable or preventable. So don’t take your sight for granted – get your eyes tested, early detection would prevent further damages to the eyes.”
Dr. J.L. Sah (Senior Surgeon) highlighted the need for regular eye exams not only among the elderly people but also among children since many young children suffer from sight defects. He complimented Believers Church for making arrangements for the eye camp.
Believers Church is able to bring better eyesight to the poor and needy through its free eye check-ups conducted on special occasions.
