On 26 January 2020, on the occasion of World Leprosy Day, Believers Eastern Church dioceses extended help to those who are affected by leprosy to help alleviate their suffering.
World Leprosy Day is observed internationally every year on the last Sunday of January. This year, the day was observed under the theme “Leprosy isn’t what you think” to show that more important than eradicating the ailment, it is important to eradicate the wrong notions attached to it.
As part of the observance, teams from Believers Eastern Church dioceses of Purulia, Berhampur and Vijayawada visited leprosy colonies where they spent time with those who are affected by leprosy and extended help to them by providing them with free medical care, clothes, ration items and helping with household chores.
