On 16th October 2012, Believers Church Bengaluru Diocese organized a food distribution among the needy people of Mangalore for World Food Day.
More than 150 free food packets were distributed to the poor at the railway station, bus stand, marketplace and slums.
Some of the packets went to a place where around 20 families live without proper food, clothes or shelter. People collect garbage from this place.
The staff will be continuing social work among the slum dwellers they met. The team assured them that they would come back every Sunday at 4 pm to teach about health and hygiene.
The poverty-stricken food recipients expressed gratitude to the church for its work for the welfare of the region.
Believers Church across South Asia took the opportunity to distribute food packets on World Food Day. Thousands of people received a good nutritious meal for the occasion.
